Dancing with Floyd

Waters taught me to build a wall,
Gilmour taught me to fly.
'Never thought of facing the fears—
Never thought to ask, "Why?"
I never saw how far I'd fall,
Until I hit the ground.
Pilfering the rubble of years
That left me tied and bound.

With two suns in the sunset,
Either one could land you blind;
So 'wait on the division bell
'Fore you make up your mind.
'Cause there's a place you just can't get
Watching your dreams succumb;
And no one cares how far you fell,
Once you're comfortably numb.

A momentary lapse of reason,
All you can blame it on;
A restless eye, a weary room,
A glazed look, then it's gone!
A simple change of season
Turned into terminal frost.
Wish you were here, all through the gloom
Of words forever lost.

And if my folded papers still
Hold faces to the floor,
From all of those possible pasts
I've chosen to ignore;
With high hopes through echoes I will
Smile one of these days.
The final cut, a memory cast
On the turning away.

Heh.Heh A smile is hard pressed to cover your face, still, "they" say miracles do happen. Just keep plugging away, you've already stepped further toward the light than I ever thought you would. Keep on chooglin'.

I noticed this as I lurked... and swore I'd respond if I ever gathered the courage to return. *S* Sometimes, for some people, the music of a particular band or person seems to define us... or at least, dance us through life's phases. *S* Excellent - and quite memorable - write! *S*
