I hear trucks on lonely highway,
tired winds moan into night,
seasons change before my eyes
in winter's chill and summer's light,
the right of life and dying brings a smile.

I used to think you could be saved from self
by force of love alone;
I was young and wrong,
your flame had burned always too bright
ever to burn too long;
I did not cry when night's sharp passing
stilled your precious song,
love lost in pictures that belong
in tangled weave of threads,
tight knap and tuft of imagery's
light plethora of orchids,
weft and warp so strong
in life's hysteric tapestry
set right and tied too long ago
to bend too soft beguile.

This poem reminds me of my daughter whose flame burned too bright to burn for long. Brought tears to my eyes.

A wonderful, beautiful work of art as you searched within yourself to find the perfect words and phrases to make this poem a stand out, and one of your very, very best, in my opinion.

Extremely good writing, Ice. The force of love is powerful but not always enough to save one from themselves....but it's the best we can do at times.

Hits home....

Charly,So tender and full of heart.I have found that love alone cannot shape one or change one.   Life is a lonely chore fully open to only one's self. A partner can add so much yet still  must keep a portion of self. So it goes two ways. We can help each other to grow to a point, it is up to each to give the best they can. It is rare that one gives all. Enjoying your  perfect poetic brooding once again. No one can match you. Best, Jo
