Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Devastation does not discriminate
does not depend on death or destruction
to bring us to our knees
The connectedness of love deems despair
an inevitable incident
Words or deeds dismantle us
disorient us from our day to day
with inconsolable sorrow
Such sadness drives us to
seek solace in sleep
sleep safe in its keep
of oblivion
Waiting for our solar plexus
to stop hemorrhaging

Sorry to read this, but know there is peace at the end of the day, Lori. Yes that day may seem too far off, but it is there waiting for you.

Thanks for your kind words Jerry. "This too shall pass" In the meantime it sucks. Ever since I started thinking of this latest "episode" as a case of the "flu", I have done much better.  I have to shake these blues PDQ, I have and anniversary trip coming up this weekend.  No crybabies allowed!

oh, yeah, you nail those blues! These words particularly resonated with me.

I am especially fond of the line:

"sleep safe in its keep
   of oblivion"

fine writing !

Eh . . . you have a fan club, and I consider myself fortunate to be in that group. I sure don't have anything resembling a fan club. The last two poems I have posted have garnered zero comments. I'm not blaming anyone but myself. I seem to have forgotten how to write poems.
