There are days, like today,
I feel a deep and abiding connection
with the green goddess, the mother earth.
I want to wander in her sphere, to reach out,
to feel and acknowledge her presence—
to let her being caress mine.

I need to touch her guardians; the trees,
whose interlocking roots hold firm her protective mantle.
Whose branches that lace the firmament
to net the breath of world in a sacred hush.
Oh, I would be a tree and plant my bare feet
firmly into the richness of this life giving soil,
to lift the branches of my mind and capture the sky.

I want to swim naked, to give my body to her blood,
the life giving fluid of all that lives
cold, clear water. . .
Precious water in all it forms;
the seas, the oceans, rivers, streams, ponds and creeks
and the forgiveness of our mother's tears, rain.
To stand in her benediction, accepting the grace given,
that washes away all the pain of world.

I need to climb down the grandest canyons of time
and find the deepest cavern;
to crawl back into the womb to listen to her heartbeat.
And as my heartbeat echoes and finds the rhythm of her seasons,
I will finally understand the empty spaces
of nothing between the throbs of time.
I desire also, to stand on the highest mountains peaks,
to touch her bare bones that were deep inside eons ago--
to feel their stories flow up my fingertips to my soul.

I want to journey back in these stories,
all the way back to the beginnings of time unknown,
and witness the world giving birth to herself.
Out of the perfection of chaos there is life;
out of the void of cold dark space, there is being.

oh, to be the scream of the eagle’s wing
that echoes throughout the clear sky

the mote in a newborn fawn's eye
that sees the world for the first time

the drop of sea water spraying up
from the leaping dolphin from the deep, and

the wind that howls down the concrete streets
to cleanse the dark cities of man

I wish dance under the full and luminous moon
with my sisters, to chant ancients songs, to sing hosannas,
to reaffirm our womanhood with the first mother of us all
the green goddess, the mother earth.

Ink runs from the corners of my mouth
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.

As I read your poem my heart kept saying "me too".

You take us all on a beautiful journey to where we all truly belong. Your passion is magnetic, but in your conclusion you omit men.
