dawning of a new day
or close of a day already spent
we feel an excitement
matters not, matters not
we are but passersby
we're here for an instant
and gone for eternity
if we think upon that thought
and let it die a slow death
we rob thought of substance
we walk though the forest road
a sense of quiet takes hold
to what used to make us sad
we pause on our journey
find a distorted cypress stump
we sit upon its roots
listening to nature's song
we don't know how we got here
don't know how long we'll stay
we enjoy the moment
empty our mind
of what used to clutter it
it’s about sincerity
we put pettiness aside
breathe in earth's perfume
listen to nature's voice
beauty surrounds ours to behold
mists from slow-moving bayou
the aroma of pine
where salamanders dig
do we believe in God
at times such as this; yes we do

This 'write' is an especially fine expression of the 'now-ist' philosophy and about the magic and majesty
of Nature ... especially the wilderness (which Thoreau called the 'salvation of man'). The 'past' is
irrevocable ... the 'future' is as yet powerless to be born ... we have only the grand-scintillating 'now' of
infinitely positive potentialities in which to paint the world in bright-delicious colors.

Thank you very much for your in-depth comment, Bruce I so appreciate it. I can only agree with the "now" concept, because as greater men than I have said in their own way, now is all we have.

"we pause on our journey

I hear the bhaar-rump bhaar-rump of an old toad...
at least, in my mind, that is how I remember the song....

For once I can truely relate to something leaning toward the lighter side.  Wow, I'd call that progress.     Nice reflection, Jer.  I've missed ya bud.
