Winter's last icicles
slowly disintegrate
pale within streams and
the veins of the riverbeds

what was conceived late October
fails to deliver, the gifts
undecipherable
amid the refuse and wornout love letters
returned to their sender

along with the promise of us
two staggering raindrops

drowning in anonymity
in the debris of an ocean

unaffected

When you write of the heart you are so adept at bringing in the world around you, Emma. I love your poetry, and your uncanny way of getting your point across. Excellent!
