Each day
with closed eyes
what is this rustle
I hear? A secret
that grows longer each year,
while pulling the brush
through my ratty hair
this withered mane
on balding head

with every stroke
each clump snarls
snaps and flys

shedding
broken strands, which
whisper pass my shoulders
to blanket
the bathroom floor
each morning
winter-white.

I, personally think you are very becoming with your G.I. cut although I have a feeling it isn't exactly a cut. Still, it becomes you, Beverly.

I am really enjoying your long hair poetry! My hair does the same cycle. I grow it until it is too long and too heavy then cut it shortish, short or SHORT!!! and start all over again. sigh...

hi JP, yes not a cut, I buzz it off a couple of times a month for the last two years, now I'm attempting to grow it out... we'll see thanks.

lori, took me decades and more to realize my hair didn't control, but I could/can control (have fun) with my mane.

Worddancer. Years ago as a young mother we had my husband's brother and wife in for a game of cards. Somehow I got into a silly mood and for some reason mentioned I should cut my hair. I always cut or home permed my hair.My young husband did not like my silliness for some reason and said "I will cut your hair" and told me to go up to the bath room.I did, he followed and he did cut my hair but gave me a crew cut. That was in the early fifties and the short style was not yet in vogue. But I laughed. My in laws were shocked when they saw me but I did not give in.I wore it proud and with him I wore it uncovered. When with my friends I wore a nice hat.I went to a few of his family weddings and and even to a home party sans hat or scarf. Smiled through it all. Soon the pixie cut was in and as my hair was growing in I was right in style. LOL It is nothing serious today and I did not let it become serious then.  Enjoy that nice cool look especially though out the summer. Jo
