nightly, I laid down
with a casket of bricks
upon my heart

waiting......

those summer months
were endless with desire's
cruel madness

chasing the elusive one

the cloud that wouldn't rain
the last bud that wouldn't blossom

the first flower to bloom
only to flatline, simultaneously

how pathetic I became!

to not say what I knew, to be
in denial of the stars
that had crossed

writing poetry for one
I would never share with

fearing to reveal who I was
and what I felt for one
so undeserving

run to the light
seek the Messiah
undo this spell

cast off this demon!

how can I have ever
called you Love?

Oh this is down deep with despair about what you allowed to torment yourself. I have experienced some of the same feelings you write about. Self hate, and the tragic thing about it is that it didn't have to be so mean to ourselves, because the ones we pined over didn't deserved to be pinned over.

The soul-destroying power of unreciprocated love, beautifully penned. Concise, yet expressed completely.

Oh yes, my dear, you nailed it. EmmaRose you are really writing fantastic poetry consistently! If you wanted  to grade your poetry according to the depth of the emotions you stirred...this would be the winner.  I am sure this brought back a lot of long forgotten uncomfortable feelings for a lot of people.
