insubstantial slumber
curse of living long enough
to grow old
close my eyes
drift into kaleidoscope dreams
open my eyes
stare at the computer’s monitor
listen to the rain
falling on the window
I have things on my mind
to share
but it's the midnight hour
I’ve no one
to tell them to
and my keyboard refuses me

In my opinion, the last line kicker to this poem makes this one of the loneliest of yours I have ever read...

the photograph is great accompaniment to the
dour tone of the poem.  Well composed melancholia
