listen to the sound the sea makes
a nuance of time without end
the soft sound
as the sea reaches the shore
like a hymn for
failing to remember lightheartedness
a somber reminder
of planet earth’s grave journey
into the abyss
of harmful avenues of despair
and hopelessness
into a well of doom-skirted eternity
where a velvety woman is passionate
to a fault and man . . .
well man is worse than is naught
these two sad, sad people
the last two left
both have an incredible yonder to climb
as they hold hands
and slowly walk into the sea
to remain
is unfathomable

March seems to have been a heavy month for you my friend.  Deep thoughts here. I can't allow myself to ponder things such as these as it opens the door to that dismal abyss I take medication to avoid. I know humanity's uncertain future effects people--my oldest son is not having children partly due to that fact.

Sometimes poems seem to just write themselves, Lori. This is one of those kind of poems. Thank you for responding.

Very well expressed, dear Jerry. Yes our future is unfathomable and the dark clouds of irresponsible behavior towards the Earth and towards humanity bring heavy hearts. And yet so many people dedicate their life to save this planet and its inhabitants. We must not allow despair and anxiety to overcome.

the poem highlights the worst and the best of humanity, edging towards the good , as we strive for it to prevail despite it all

Yep, you said it, Emma, "as we strive for it to prevail despite it all." Thank you.
