Fair to middlin' of nowhere

When it came to feeling loved
I didn’t always have my lid
screwed on right
Sometimes too loose
Sometimes too tight
No matter what I did
it didn’t feel right
Hindsight is twenty-twenty
I know now
it wasn’t all me
Part of the problem was
being loved inadequately
Still
that having been said
the love I did have
could not sustain me
It did not contain me
within warm arms of certainty
until you
You love me in ways
I can’t ignore
Every day you place your heart
at my door
so I can see
it belongs to me
Every night you hold me
You enfold me
Your need to be
close
is as strong as mine
Your fear
this will all disappear
grips me too
There is comfort
seeing it in you
I know you won’t
Betray or deceive
and make me leave
I know your love is real
because
Loved is how
you make me feel

What a wonderful poem of love you have shared with us today, Lori. It just doesn't get any better than this.

grand-fine mix of 'slice-of-life' reality and Romanticism indeed!

It's lovely to read such 'pennings' in writing styles that I am entirely incapable of ...
