     Talk Against Time

Spring returns
to these ‘endless’
   hills
on the wings
of wild geese
over vast waters.

The quintessence
of fragile beauty
is the cherry blossom,
and of grace is the
willow, in the radiant
warmth of the morning
   star.

Along these deep,
silent forest paths
ancient spirits walk
the eternal sunset;
and there is solace
for lonely hearts
that travel with
them here.

In the cleansing moonlight
along such woodland ways
all thoughts turn clear …
that glory is fleeting,
fame a fading moment’s
    mirage,
power and possession
impermanent  as the
  shifting sands,
and neither sage nor saint
can hold the rolling years.

Only truest Love shall stand
to talk against Time.
