As the heart fills
then empties, simultaneously

you are never as treasured
as in those final moments
before the sun pours down

between the twilight branches
you exit, breathless, I harken
to your colors

then surrender softly, to
the cold dark ground

Ahhh . . . I'm a sucker for dark poems. This one was dark personified, Emma.

EmmaRose, EmmaRose!
I know it is always going to be a good poem but I always underestimate just how good. I enjoyed this very much!
