She would hum and pour,
Till she didn’t need the hum
And she didn’t need the glass,
She  couldn’t remember the songs sung
Or any memories of the past,
Then she’d drink some more.

Seems there’s another day
Just to wake and suffer through,
She’d just leave it all once more
Quietly, to softly wonder away,
Something she is known to do
Departing terminal as times before.

So with her dress in a sack, clothes on her back
She left to go somewhere, another anywhere.

I like this Gloom! I like that you did it from a female perspective. I also like that it can be taken literally or metaphorically.
I didn't like that I could relate...ah, but such was life.

Like Lori, I relate in big time reality. I had two lost decades where I proved your point over and over again, from a male's perspective of course, but still . . .

Such is life.   Very easy to visualize, Professor.
You painted her well.

powerful 'slice-of-life' reality write !

some of us, who are 'trapped rats,' wish we could just leave for another somewhere ...

Thank you all,
This female perspective, is just a character,
A character in a story I am writing
and now writing the poetic version.
your support is appreciated.
