I'm sorry.

I didn't mean for you to enter the world
Plagued by the problems of your father.

I didn't mean for you to exist in this. . .
This torturous world
With demons lurking behind every door,
demons that you don't see.

I'm sorry.

I wish I could reach into your skull
and rewire your brain
So you wouldn't have to...
so you wouldn't..
Be. Like. Me.

You don't deserve this.
You never did.
You didn't ask to be on this planet.
You didn't ask to inherit my evil.
My darkness.
You didn't ask for any of this.

Yet, I brought you here.
On this God Forsaken planet.
Where nobody cares,
And everyone tries to slice each other's throat
just to take a bite from an apple.

I just.. couldn't bring myself
to end your life before it began.

Because maybe you could be the one,
To turn everything around. . .
For us all.

If this is about you, Damien, you gave life to your unborn child twice!  Not many people do that!  In doing this, I think you have already turned it all around!

I truly felt the same way the first time I found out I was going to be a father.  Sadly, it took me about another 5 years to realize a workaholic father only adds to the bloody woes of this world that shape our childrens lives.  I quit one of my two jobs and devoted the added time I had to my children, and have never once regretted the decision.  We are all in this life together, make the most of the time... don't spend so much time focusing on the negativity of this world that you don't see the blessings, i.e. your child.  If he/she brings you happiness, the difference has already been made in my opinion.

especially fine comment/reply posts to an effective, introspective 'write!'

sadly, it is a demon-haunted world and all the new 'little ones' deserve far better ...
