I wasn't meant for this.

Why can I look at a broken mirror,
and it reflects who I am
without showing my reflection?

Why can I stare in a puddle of still water
and not recognize the person staring back at me?

Who am I?

I'm a volcano of Ice.

When I was dreaming,
I saw a man.
He grabbed me, and told me
''One day;
You're going to die.

The planet will swallow you.
You will fall into a hole
and one by one the people who love you will disappear.
You will never be able to cure anyone.
You will guide people into the light,
but you will not be able to guide yourself.
You will be alone,
because you are meant to be the one to lead.
Leaders can't lead without sacrifice.''

I responded
''What if I don't want to lead?
What if I want to be a sheep and follow the next person that is like me?''

He said
''There is no one else left.
You will learn one day,
that no matter how much you believe that you can wait,
That you can stall,
that you can be still. . .
those are the moments where people need you most.

I said
''I don't want this responsibility.
I'm not strong enough.
I'm a kid in a man's body.
I'm only human.''

He said
''Exactly. You are human.
Humanity doesn't exist in many people anymore.''

Damien, some of what that man in your dream/poem said, is completely true, but not all of it.  I believe you know which parts are completely true, and which parts are just to challenge you to greater heights and lead you onward.

Just a word from an owl of 68-years old.  Almost every time that I berate humans and humanity and think that most are bad and that all have deserted me, several people are presented to me as shining examples of the many angels in humanity . . . like you, for example . . . and I swallow my words in gratitude.

'tis better to be 'people' (and lead) than to be 'sheeple!' ...
Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem:
What man is truly a man who does not make the world better?!
(which requires 'taking the lead' in some venue of choice).
