(Lori’s dedication and poem about
Bruce’s poetry inspired this write.)

my poetry
is all about me
for the most part
I wonder why
I never write about nature
which comes so naturally
from other writers
I could write
about a fresh morning breeze
giving me a unsullied
outlook on life
as songbirds tweeted a good morning tune
instead I basically write about me
I guess most poets do
it isn’t that I don’t appreciate
the fluffy white clouds
on a crisp spring day
and the magical sunsets
that will cause you to gasp aloud
if I seem ego-driven
to write about me, and me alone
I guess it is because
a large portion of my life was spent
trying to survive
dark and dangerous surroundings
it clouded my mind
not all of my poetry is dark and dismal
still, I must admit
I've failed to grasp
nature in my world
that’s a shame
I've missed out on the
awareness of what nature has
bequeathed to us

My dear friend it is never to late to smell the roses! And the telling will still be all about you!

Thank you, Lori. I might have been too hard on myself, because for the most part every poet writes about themselves in their own way.

EACH of us contributes their own unique and important writing 'style' to this
sad 'ol world etched in these fine blue sands of 'P.I.P.-land' by the cyber-sea ...
I am not capable of the fine, powerful, and important 'slice-of-life'/'reality' writes
(autobiographical or not) that others do!

Don[t underestimate your powers

O yes, Bruce is the consummate nature poet, a fine one indeed

And you are real and raw, not one to pull a punch and that is  a blessing

So write on
