long-winded discourses
of depraved harmonics
signposts for the laureate

baiting minds to pull the triggers
that fire upon the podiums pet

tall-tales told
in the best of short stories
spoken in houses confessing the Truth

      baiting minds with surreal thinking
          ebbing tides reveal their fruits

songs of a steward
being sung to the masses
telling of virtues all once obeyed

      baiting minds with distorted concepts
long are the years, short are the days

Touch, but don't look

This is pretty much beyond me I'm thinking. The recognition from ones peers is a must have for many, and therefore a lot of politics and sucking up come into play. Talking about the podiums pet. Hah! "surreal thinking," and "distorted concepts" are cousins in their relationship to the whole.

I like the way you used baiting minds here.  that really is the label on the can of worms.
