okay
this I have understood
poetry does not have to be all
sweet smelling and flowery
babbling brooks or
snow white clouds against
brilliant blue skies
poetry can be
cold and hungry hitchhiker on the road
thumb out
guns and roses
(they were good for awhile)
bills stacked up
on the kitchen table
ladies of the night displaying their wares
poetry can be
chewed, stubby pencils
mean streets
overdue bills, screaming babies
the inner fire of a polished diamond
smell of coffee perking
most of all
poetry can be whatever the scribe
sees it as
war, bloodshed
rape
carnage
can be put to poetry
dark poetry
but poetry nonetheless

A solid, comprehensive list alright Jerry.

Now I'd like to see the "more" that ER mentioned. I'm quite fond of lists.

Touch, but don't look

Haven't written much lately because the poetry that rolls off my tongue is still quite dark, even though I have been in a far brighter place for some time...  not sure if I'm afraid it will have the power to drag me back down, or if I'm truthfully just sick of it.  If it is all poetry nonetheless, mayhap I will see what the muses are saying.

Good to see you here, Michael. I went through what you are going through when I began to venture away from my own dark writes. I have pretty much figured it out now, although I still touch base with the dark every so often. You are a master of the dark, but I am happy you have been in a better place these days. You'll figure it out.
