wanna know what gettin’ old is
yer eyesight ain’t so good anymore
people have to repeat over and over
what they say
cause ya hearing’s on the blink
physical restructuring . . . don’t wanna even get into
still . . . guess I’ll have to continue on
muscle tone begins to fade
arms and legs stiffen
joints ache
constipation, diarrhea
oh my, my, my
My Oh My Club, New Orleans, early sixties
youthful dreams are a distant memory
sleep is something other people do
you think
you might rightly think
you have ripened into the last of your years
a decline over time
but no!
it happened over night
wrinkles appeared from yesterday upon waking today
your mighty stride
reduced to a more timid way of walking
be careful you don’t fall
break that hip
everybody talks about
you spend tediously drawn out days
and multifaceted memories
festers the dull remembrance of change
we become, after all
an apparition of ourselves
dead . . . man . . . walking
in our ears the faintest sound of approbation
that you’ve lived long enough
to die
toward the end
there is one looming thought
about it all
never mind all the physical
pain and loss
but the real tragedy is . . .
alas and drat
you’re no longer hip

Hey man, you're hip...just not with the younger generation... as it should be.  They go to alot of trouble to make it so we aren't hip.  It is their calling to be different, just as it was with all of us in our day.

You know Jerry, I heard that Chubby's not doing the 'Twist' any longer but has morphed it into something called "The Titanium Swing".

Now that's hip!

Touch, but don't look

Hip Hip Hooray

you do just fine Sir

you have a flair to express honestly
what's on your mind heart and soul

youth is hip to youth
we oldies are golden and many of
us that won't buy into the thought that you
have to 'act your age' stay hip

Awww . . . Emma, I so like this . . .
quote:
many of
us that won't buy into the thought that you
have to 'act your age' stay hip

. . . it made my day. That is fantastic, thank you.
