Sharp talons pierce the flesh
Blood drips on the snow
Winter survivor flies off

Hopefully the blood wasn't yours, Lori. Maybe metaphorically.

No!LOL
I had a T-shirt one time that had a rat on it, flipping off an eagle that was decending upon him talons first, encaptioned "last great act of defiance".
I turned that into a "haiku moment" Your  poem about the winter storm inspired me to write about winter. Thanks Jerry

At least you had a chance to comment knowing what the poem was about, Emma. I, on the other hand . . .

Emmarose, don't look now but we all share the same "world". If it makes you feel any better, I didn't hear anything but the flap of wings when I wrote it.

Well Jerry, maybe you shouldn't comment until you know what the poem is about hmm?

Well Yann if you envisioned some bird of prey silently snagging a small mammal from the snow to consume in order to survive, than you got it. It's not so scary the cute little fuzzball that got ate never knew what hit it.
