I partied with everyone
transgression was my goal
the nights where there for me
exacting and faux real
then there was her
party girl supreme
from the middle of the day
til three a.m.
and beyond
instead of me doing the seducing
I was being seduced
Dallas, Texas
late sixties
they were fighting in a foreign land
we were fornicating
to beat the band
make love not war
WAR! Huh! Good Gawd what is it good for?
she wrote poetry
opened up the Muse in me
touched my soul
don’t tell me there’s no soul
may not be
that kind of soul
but it is there nonetheless
her teenage daughter
dressed very skimpily
made it a habit to press against me
leave the bathroom door open
when momma wasn't around
and I, well I
had a hard time dealing with it
a very
hard time dealing with it
one day I didn’t deal with it
busted
hit the road jack

Flower power days of wine and roses, or various other vicarious substances.
I like your song references because I really like those tunes. "War" and Ray Charles in particular. Dallas in the sixties, or anywhere at that time I suppose could set one in a tailspin. The trick was to pull the stick back before you hit the ground. You must have had a close call Jerry. Where are they now, you suppose? Reads like a page from your memoirs, very good.

It is a page from "Misdemeanors & Felonies: A Memoir," Jack. How'd ya know?

I could have written that book Jerry, but you beat me to it. I was in Dallas that day.
