The fall season is always sad to me,
There is no joy found in the cooling breeze,
Leaves falling to the ground give me no glee,
As I think about love's many degrees.
A tender love that blossoms in the spring,
It grows and it thrives in summertime sun.
Everything’s perfect for the queen and king,
But autumn can unearth love almost done.
And now all that's left is winter's cold chill,
To shatter and trash love's bough to the quick.
Leaving forlorn lovers to pay the bill,
And reassemble their love brick by brick.
Will springtime await my secretive thoughts,
Will love return to me or will it naught?

You shall soon find the answer to your last two lines Jerry.

Autumn is a few days away.

Thanks, Blue. Yep, Autumn will be upon us sooner rather than later. Leastwise that's how it seems to me.

I think Max meant Springtime.

I envisioned the daisey at the end of the poem...she loves me, she loves me not. I like the way you covered the seasons here Jerry.  Lori

Maybe. The lines blur to me in these later years. Thanks for being here.

Just a little levity actually. The "few days" really meant much further than Spring. One of my daughters used to tell me it was "opposite day".

Maybe your daughter was right, Blue.

This is so beautifully written, dear Jerry, in its melancholic considerations. Every season has its reason to be. We are meant to BE in the moment, but we do not always succeed in this. Pour some happy anticipation into your heart and love will be back. And so it is.
