I don't remember the song
   we used to sing
Every time you held me
   in your arms
It's been to long
I don't remember the words
   or the melody
And it's a bittersweet ache
   that leaves me both relieved
...and regretful
A song like that should
   never be forgotten
But it was a song
   written for two
One heart could not maintain it
   it hurts to sing alone
I don't remember the song.

Paula, You are correct, singing the song to self just does not do it. I was remembering one that was sung to me:  Music Music Music all I want is loving you and Music Music Music

Best to you, Jo perry

I loved this poem, Paula. (I have a daughter named Paula) And you are very much correct, a song such as that should never be sung alone. Beautiful, achingly beautiful.

I know of songs like that. When played, you see it in the eyes of those most attentive. You know it's the lyric or the melody that strikes a familiar chord (no pun intended).

Usually, they're not with anyone in particular, yet definitely they're thinking of someone.

Melancholy played with one hand and romance in the other.

Beautifully written piece. Someone, somewhere, is playing a tune just for you.

Keep listening.

Know the longing here, my friend. An empty can just does not have the same 'feel' does it?
Very much enjoyed.

Very sad to be without the one you loved and shared so many sweet memories with.

Touch, but don't look
