One chirping bird
breaks through the wintertime still life
but I wish her away, seduced instead
by the lulling complacency,
where once stark lamentations
would torment me, with a season
that carves deep in the marrow

Last line. Deep. Very much so and haunting, Emma.

fine 'write' ! ...

Here in the 'endless' mountains of 'ol Appalachia, it is literally a "Wintertime still life" ... so much snow now that nothing is moving.
