Delayed Promise

our pointy little heads
kissed by icy air
praying our toes
won’t fall prey to its snare

then a lovely blanket
nestles in and around
coated in confection
snow’s frosting we’re bound

our insulation’s sure
as once again asleep
silently covered
‘neath four inches deep

waiting some time longer
a later date with spring
we’ll peek again above the sod
as robins begin to sing

I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Yep, and I have a feeling most everyone will be grateful for spring to spring.
This has been a tough winter, even down here in bayou land. Great poetry!

Well, it's been nothing like winter where I live but I feel for everyone who's been suffering through the miserable winter everywhere else.  Spring will come and I hope it's as wonderful for all of you as my January has been.

Thank you all for stopping in and for your encouraging words. Our winter here has actually been quite mild. The more usual thing for uses more sunshine with the cold days. Many of us are missing that brightness. The snow we're having is quite light and powdery so it's not likely to deliver the moisture that's missing for these parts. At least it doesn't wreak as much havoc on the roads. Also, getting really cold after a stretch of false warm causes growth problems with the tricked early risers. i.e. heads pointing toward the heavens, exposed to the harsh temps.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
