The monotetra is a new poetic form developed by Michael Walker. Each stanza contains four lines in monorhyme. Each line is in tetrameter (four metrical feet) for a total of eight syllables. What makes the monotetra so powerful as a poetic form, is that the last line contains two metrical feet, repeated. It can have as few as one or two stanzas, or as many as desired.

Sometimes I sit and wonder why
I can't sprout wings and start to fly
Above the clouds so very high
And then I'd be willing to die

There are times when I cast my lot
Against the things I have been taught
And tie myself into a knot
Looking from within what I've wrought

I've lived, I've loved, I've had the best
In many ways I have been blessed
Still I must get things off my chest
About my life, my zeal and zest

No matter how hard I did seek
The world always looked dark and bleak
And though I tried to look so chic
I felt I was a circus freak

And now you see my cover's blown
These days I do live quite alone
I suppose I'm in my own zone
Had I but known, had I but known.

I like this. You did well. The rhymes do  not sound too forced.

Yeah, there are certain poem where the rhyming just for the sake of rhyming falls short. Thanks, Lori.

I think I'm just going to have to try that, Jerry.

It isn't all that difficult, Ida. Thank you.

Enjoyed, Jerry.  "If I had known" - yes, how different life would have been.

Yes, Helen, had we but known our whole lives would have been changed. On the other hand some of us might make the same mistakes. I'm sure some would. Boggles the mind. Thank you for stopping by.
