.

Not brittle-glass nor mullioned flesh. Works
of sinew, bone and thinning skin.
Not for me— Such windows of wind-shuttered,
shadow-cluttered eye and soul. Nor of roundel eyes,
where from a blind old soul may seem to see. No, no! No!

My eyes, if they are pretty, are yours, for you.
And yours for mine and a world to raise! —I'd hope.
They— Each but a mirror-through
that we may hold our side-by-side in space
And admire. Admire, each— Our chosen friend.

I know. I do.

A passionate piece of writing because you found that the eyes are the most penetrating and deepness of another. Yep. It's all in the eyes.

Agree (and enjoyed your poem) with both you and Jerry ... I was served in a fast food joint the other day by a young lady that had the most beautiful eyes I have seen in years (blue, and yes I told her so) --- this piece brought them back to me.

enjoyed,

j.
