    Winter Zen

more lonely
than ever ___
Winter darkens

Winter twilight___
even two shadows
spooning

dawn in the pines___
listening to the voices
of wilderness

dancing eyes only___
Black cat
at midnight

never so cold___
voice of the
Winter wind

Long-shadows dance
in the setting sunlight___
candles beckon

do snails sleep? ___
a thousand unanswered
     questions

beautiful lady smiles___
icicles sparkling
by moonlight

falling snow
thundering silence___
a moment of tranquility

sunset … moonset
four billion years
    of ‘Deep-Time’
what is another day?

Winter river
ice-flows and emptiness
bird tracks in the snow

the North wind calls
snowflakes to dance
filling the corners
of this Winter world

no more than dewdrops
    on the grass
we face life’s storms
from all directions

Deep-Winter sorrows___
in an ice-clutched world

a relentless Winter wind rules
a thousand miles of desolation___
striking the bottom  of loneliness

You take the chill off of winter and warm the soul.

Very nice writing~

I will save this gem, my friend. I absolutely loved this . . .
quote:
do snails sleep? ___
a thousand unanswered
     questions

This is no doubt in my mind, for me, one of your very best.

Exquisite snapshots, I love the redeeming quality of the 2nd after the 1st. Rekindling juxtaposition.

Thanks for posting. I'd like to put that on my wall to be sure it's memory wouldn't be confused with "my own thought," thinking it had been my own serendipitous illumination.
What I mean is: to be certain who its author is, it's originator.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
