there is a spider web
clinging to the corner of The Hovel
I stare at it
taking in its beauty
before I take a broom
and remove it
it never ceases to amaze me
of the intricate beauty of
a spider’s web
I give it the quintessence of thought
a complicated world
woven for something so simple
as a killing mechanism for survival
it is spun so very ingeniously
a cunning and clever trap
for its next victim

on second thought
I think I shall leave it there

I agree, Jerry. Spider webs do have a certain appeal. You described it very well.

Thanks Ida. Spiders and their webs have intrigued me since I was a small child.

We let spiders live with us in the flat )
They protect our dwelling from insects so well!

Nice poem, Jerry!

Absolutely Gale, they do keep the insects away. Besides that I just like to watch them and marvel at their webs. Thank you for dropping by.

Nature can be quite beautiful but...spiders!
When I see spiders I run away! LOL
Nice poem, enjoyed.

I'm not much on spiders either, Kat, but the webs fascinate me.

My daughter on the contrary was never scared of spiders, but any spider thread makes her panic.

But their web is so beautiful, especially in the morning with drops of dew.

Yeah, it sure is, Gale. Not afraid of spiders but afraid of the web. Strange.

I love this very much, dear Jerry, and also your second thought! As long as it isn't a black widow!

I remember not liking to pluck berries in the garden because of the many spiderwebs! But I am fascinated too by their fantastic work of art!

It seems it is a love/hate relation concerning spiders, Margherita. Most people abhor the actual spider, but are lovingly amazed at what it can weave.
