. I got a slap across my face ‘You could behave with more respect’ - These hasty words you’ve hurled - ‘You are a big disgrace!’ I got a slap and wonder why And who has some respect for me To see I meant no evil, No dirty things implied? Who can respect himself enough Not to consider every breath Just as a threat of scandal? It’s pitiful It’s tough You’re quick but faulty to condemn And your suspicions make no sense, Humiliating only your soul, My poor friend I got the slap – you got the pain I wish you were not so blind And knew, my thoughts are clear Your judgment is insane . 25/01/2014 . |

Far more truth than fiction here: quote: There are many who will relate to your fine poetry Gale. That is unfortunate. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Some people are so insecure they resort to violence to hide that fact. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Jerry, I can't help agreeing with you! Though sometimes it's not only insecurity or incertitude, but a feeling of despair and helplessness. Something like nervous breakdown, I guess. |

Gale, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I am glad you wrote about it, though, because it will help you to heal. Owl |

what a despicable thing to do to a woman.. cowards like that need to be taught a severe lesson.. i hope you moved on.. yes thank you for sharing such a personal experience Gale.. the strength of that slap is now in your words and in all of the hearts of those who read this and know that they are not alone, and dont have to put up with such abusive behaviors.. very nicely written |

Owl, Richy, James, thank you for reading and commenting! It's so kind of you to comfort me! Really it has happened so long ago, and to be honest, figuratively it happens to me quite often, because I have such a character. I got used ) But recently it has happened to one of my friends, and although he is not a woman, but a man, he deserved it not in the least. It hurt him so much that I felt like it's me who got that slap in the face in the first time. It was so unfair... so terrible mistake! |

You wrote powerfully and with great sensitivity about this painful experience, dear Galina. Figuratively speaking I took some slaps too and the surprise is always shocking ... Margherita |

It's amazing how those that are so quick to judge are the same ones who fail to see the whole truth at any cost sometimes. Indeed, the slapper gets the pain most of the time, though if they realize the cause of it must be taken on a case by case basis. Nice purge. Michael |

Gale you often write something that touches all and me also. I have no words for you. But I know if I was there by your side,I would have shed some tears. A slap across the face is about the worst sort of humiliation. It should never happen. It is hoped the "slapper" felt remorse. If not, there is no help for that person. The person slapped will hopefully understand they did not deserve the slap and live on in peace. sincerely, jo |

Thank you, Margherita! Yes, it's always surprising, when you you had no intention to insult anybody. But you did it accidently and don't know who is more blind - you or that one who feels hurt by your words or behaviour. |

Jo, Yann, thank you very much for reading! Appreciated your comments and support! Honestly, the real slap in the face I got only twice in my life, and so long ago, but actually I hadn't deserved it. Well, if it was a slap across my bottom, I would understand ) |

Can't say I've never been slapped, figuratively and otherwise. Never is the greatest of feelings, that I know for sure. At any rate, thank you for your writing. |
