where the wild flowers grow

I loved you before
you were a part of the ocean,
before you learned to swim.

I loved you before you held my finger
in the palm of your hands,
and I'll love you long after you let go.

I loved you before the invention of fire,
and I'll love you when it all burns out.

I loved you before I was born,
and I'll love you long after I die..
I'll kiss you when you take your last breath,
I'll hold you so that you'll never forget.

I'll love you
when all the rivers turn dry,
when the sun engulfs the Earth,
when it all subsides.

When the ashes spread
and are adrift
spaced across the universe,
and all that's left
is one human tear,
floating through space

one of the many
I shed when you were born.

I loved you before the invention of fire,

stupendous line indeed, because love is fire too, what a creative verse like other beautiful images of the poem, you are really in love for sure and we can read it gracefully,

thanks a lot

beautiful, the universe speaks its greatest
triumph and glory through love of your child perhaps? or whomever you speak of

what more love is there then the birth of life that we get to be a part of..

what an amazing piece, that just glows in sincerity

Dear Kaoru, this not only tugs at my heartstrings for its very touching content, but it also has my admiration for the wonderful poetic flow and imagery.

Brava!

Love,
Margherita

Kaoru, how is that little miracle anyway?  I often think of you and your daughter.  Nice poem to keep in her memory box mama
