MY MADIBA #3
10 January 2014

http://soundcloud.com/diana-van-den-berg-2/my-madiba-3

Blinding white light
and blazing sun beating, beating, beating down,
relentlessly, exhaustingly,
and swastika’d Van Rensburg . . .
the sound of iron on limestone -
crash, crash, crash, crash . . .

and the sun and the light
and the heat and the crash
and the thirst
and the sun and the light
and the heat and the crash
and Van Rensburg watching
waiting, taunting, punishing . . .

I am trying hard, Madiba,
but not succeeding,
to live just one minute
of your Robben Island gift
to our rainbow nation,
and you did this for eighteen
of your twenty-seven years
of we-won’t-give-up,
but when-will-this-end?

also 'well-penned' indeed ... it would be grand if the entire world could ever exist, even for awhile, without any 'dark corners' of intolerance, bigotry, prejudice,
socio-political oppression and such ... replaced instead by the celebration of human diversity and Gaia stewardship (respect for all biospheric life forms) ...

Thank you, Bruce.  Yes, it would, indeed.

Mandela's invincible spirit rose far beyond SA's Alcatraz.

His smile is upon every word of your poetry...no doubt.

...just bein' Bluesy

Thank you, Bluesy for your supportive words.  You are right, but it must have been hard, believing, but not knowing that they would win.
