Candles burn low with no one to blow them out

Notes fall flat with no one to sing their tune

And our wishes tie our tongues with no place to send them to

The day comes and goes
quietly
as is now its way

But my thoughts are on you
always on you

Because this will always be your day

Happy Birthday

A ribbon at a time..." - Emily Dickinson

Everyone remembers birthdays.

Perhaps more fondly in our hearts and memories. It's my way to think of them sometimes as anniversaries.

Good thoughts in your poetry.

Lovely to see you back, Aenea!

There is an ache in this beautiful poem that goes all the way down to the marrow of my bone and brings tears to my eyes.

I think you meant to have a ‘to’ in:

Notes fall flat with no one sing their tune

A very soothing poem about a person you feel close to, Aenea, and it tugged at me.

Thank you all for the welcoming arms and the kind words.  They mean so much!
