Upon waking,
sparrows on seasaw

hungover moon slip sliding
back to its starting point

the sun extending
its welcoming light

but for now, all cast
in shadow, jumbled
by thoughts as I try to
find my own place again,
wondering

had I truly ever
slept at all?

Emma, you will find your own place again. I know you can. If I can find it, and I pretty much have, you can. First thing to do is forgive yourself and forgiving all others comes easier. After that you will be at peace with yourself. It worked for me.

Beautiful, delicate, sensitive, EmmaRose, as always.  The shadows are a safe haven, and thoughts can be a power to help one find direction and strength for the moment that one takes the first step out into that glorious sunshine again, with purpose and head held high.

Emma, Emma, Emma...
I love this! I do so enjoy your word play. Your description of a sleepless night was easy to relate to as Jerry's response shows clearly. We all have different things that keep us up at night and I think you dinged us all where we live.  ~L

Splendid ... every new dawn is a new beginning ... seeing Nature unfolding in all its splendor brings us new energy to re-establish harmony where it was lost.

Love and hugs.
