Here— holding, come what may, each other
until, unseen, time folds us under.
Here, waiting, now and then, I've wondered

if we might come by chance to wander
from out one life into another
into what futures we might rather,

two parts within some Great Adventure—
the belle sabreuse, the beau sabreur—
the mistletoe and we.
