Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

Layers of looming mountains
Dwarfed by infinite distance
Become a pearl gray mantle
Framed by alpine green

Ridges cut by empty stream beds,
Lonely for water,
Valleys filled with oxbow mazes
Leading to dead, and circular, ends
Twisting and turning
Creating confusion

Until they merge into the flats
And dot the ground with pot-hole lakes
Beyond a mosaic of deep green spruce
Denali looms, dressed
In virgin white, preens in bridal beauty

Married to the land as she has always been
Since time immemorial

OMG, dearest Alison, you have outdone yourself with this magnificent work! Like Yann says, the beauty touched me deeply and gave me shivers.

An absolute keeper.

Going to read once again!

Love and hugs.

Alison, you don't know just how much I need this right now.  Your Denali poems stand out amongst your other masterpieces.  Thank you, Alison.

Thank you all very much.  I wrote this last fall as I flew in a small plane to Galena, AK (a small, remote AK "city").  I actually typed it into the notes on my phone as I was flying.  Decided to leave it as I typed that day and put it out here.

Love and Merry Christmas.

Reading that you wrote this while flying on a small airplane explains the fantastic compelling inspiration, dear Alison.

I do enjoy coming back to this one, I adore it.

Hugs.
