where the wild flowers grow

A woman in a white coat,
and echoing hallways.
The click-clack of heels
and emergencies.

This place is haunted with images
of hands holding on so tight
that they can't remember how to feel
or
tears forced down your throat;
whispered prayers begging
for none of this to be real.

This isn't the place to cry
about a heartbeat you can't hear,
or a quiet womb.

People are dying
in other rooms.

Absolutely love this, Kaoru . . .

Masterful rendering of this place where the beginning and the end of life touch closely, both causing profound emotions.

Excellent work, dear Kaoru.
