I searched myself
me to find
I went through all the cracks
all the detours
and subsequent road blocks
I discovered that I am no one
'tis true you know
I would have never admitted it
back when ego was king
in those days I was sure I was someone
my advice to you
be very careful
when you search yourself
you may be surprised at what you find
but if you're like me
no one else fits you like a T

Dear Jerry, it's good to search ourselves ... us to find", the temptation to find that we are "no one" lies on the surface, but if we go deeper we may find - next to our weaknesses - also our qualities. And we all have them, I am sure. When we know ourselves, we see our limitations, but also our possibilities. We then can focus on them and I think it pleases our Creator when we believe in ourselves and in our potentials.

I enjoyed your words and you made me reflect on them ... thank you.

Thank you, Margherita, as usual you are an in-depth commenter, and I am appreciative of that.

Soul search is difficult...and I am not talking about one does on a leisurely walk, but one that goes down deep, and explores the hidden, perhaps unwanted-to-be-exposed inner feelings and characteristics...

I am sure, Jerry, yours was NOT of the lighter kind...

Oh, you are ever so right, CG,  have probed deeply into what it is that made me what I was, and still are.

Had to look up Selah, and now I know another word. I married a half Jewish and half Italian (what a combination) in New York City, but she was more into the Italian side. Didn't learn too many Jewish words from her.

Thank you Jerry pat for a chance to think more deeply within.
And yes Amaryllis2,  we are "every one"  within one body and mind. If you asked my six children  who they see in me, you  might receive six different answers as they each had a different mother according to the time of life I was in when  they were born.  I am more than one person as I try to conform to each of them and others to meet their  needs as I might see them. Also I am who I think I am and also whom I would like to be. Add too, the others we meet in life and how they might perceive us according to the situation and the conversation.
Yes, we have many  others in side of us and may  never know who might appear. I think that is why actors can  play so many  different parts . When you dig deep enough they are  all there.Jo

Thanks Amaryllis2. We all wear many faces, according to situations.

martyjo, you have completely shed the light on who we are at different times in our lives. You are completely truthful in your thoughts. I like that.
