      Love Shall Last
[what a poet must believe]

Though blossoms of
Spring fall victim to
each capricious breeze;
the bright-rainbow leaves
of Autumn fade too soon
to  November grey;
our finest dreams of youth
melt as castles in the sand;
a thousand of our grandest
hopes and fantasies shape
themselves to be in a moment
   lost;
and even the mountains
through ‘Deep-Time’ flow
like clouds and mist
from form to form
   then go …
a poet must believe
though little stands
that Love shall last!

only love could bring some solace to an ever
changing world and slow it down long enough to keep from falling off the edge of this sobering truth of trying to hold onto those
spring or fall colors that inevitably yield to the next season, yes!!!

I guess that's what makes us poets, Bruce.
Clearly the work a master poet,
