POETS IN A TREE
15 November 2013

Today
I found
an unfinished September poem
that isn’t a September poem,
amidst scribbled notes
about a database I am developing.

I don’t remember writing it
(am I losing my mind?
or is it already long gone?)
but it is in my handwriting
and it feels
and tastes
and looks
and sounds
and smells
like something I would write
so, it must be mine . . .
and the impossible optimism
and elation of tiny sparrows
in my back garden
finished the poem for me.
Thank you, little sparrows.

Sometimes I find something I scribbled years ago and have to wonder, "Did I write that"
knowing that it had to be me.

Oh, good!  Then I am not the only one!  I thought I had misplaced my mind.  Thank you, Ida.  Smiles and delighted giggles.

Sparrows can do that.
Just watching them from the window
can take me places I would never see
without them

It's so familiar, Owl
I remember a plenty of things: some of them had happened the whole life ago, some - just yesterday. But also I forget different moments, and it feels so strange when I look at somebody's picture of the last year and see my own comment below and can't recall when and how I wrote it, but it was me for sure!

Giggles, Galina!  Well, at least there are three of us - Ida (Marchmadness), you and me!  So I am not alone in this.  Smiles.
