Boulevard St. Germain

Your perfume
you said
comes from
Boulevard St. Germain
Paris

and I would be wise
to remember that

I sprinkle a bottle
of your favorite
every year at this time
on the grass
beneath the tree
under which you lay

and I try to say the words
the way you did
in French
and accented
just like you

Je t'aime
mon coeur
je t'aime

de moi

but I always fail
so say it
the only way
I know

I love you
my heart
I love you

from me.

It works for me, Jimmy.

Touchingly sad poem, James.  It's priceless, the memories of voice and fragrance you have to hold on to though.  I would tell you to cherish them, but it's obvious you already do.  Thank you for sharing them.

Nothing personal in this piece, my friends; I was researching where to take my wife for our 40th anniversary, December 23, 2014, and was looking at Paris, when the name 34 Boulevard St. Germain (a perfume retailer/maker on Boulevard St. Germain, Paris, France), caught my writer's eye and in a few minutes this piece was finished.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and for just being there, just as you are, for the benefit of all.
