From an unskilled labor pool
a family of builders,
drove cross country to get here.

Sleeping in the back of the car in
the comedy club parking lot
cocaine in the back room
three day parties at some guys apartment in the valley.

Pure isolation on the west side,
three days and haven’t talked to anyone
sitting around eating beef jerky and watching old movies
trying to find someone who will show up to have lunch.

Macho guy
playing people on the street
pan handling as a superhero
on Hollywood Boulevard.

Turning away business for unwarranted principles
thirty six and never had a steady job.
(You are too old now –
what’s plan B because there’s not enough money for rent.)

Children’s theatre and dj’ing at a strip club
single with no kids pushing forty
still afraid of commitment.

Fifty eight and complaining about an eight dollar sandwich
still chasing the dream
and living in a guest house.
(It’s not going to happen for you.)

It's very realistic.
And sad.

Thank you for sharing!

Yep. I saw a lot of that during my Hollywood days..
