Pristine Page

So here I sit, staring, my mind just blank
No words upon the page, so pristine white
Private thoughts easy said in perfect rhyme
That heart upon your sleeve can only bleed
Torn in two tissue paper in a storm
Lips that murmur a kiss could make them still
Yet the words don’t come, paper smudged by tears
And from the tear stains, an image I see
Like ink spots, reminds me of times before
My fingers touching golden hair so fine
Lying in sand dunes sounds of distant surf
The sun to highlight your freckles, your smile
The scratching of the pen relives those days
Blank paper now alive, in so many ways.

"So here I sit, staring, my mind just blank
No words upon the page,"

I promised myself today that I will fill those blanks soon...

Sometimes, most of the time really, the past can cause the pen to begin reliving those moments when nothing else can.

Beautiful escalation, from inertia to deep feeling, intensely rendered.
