IF
24 July 2013

If you had ever
offered
me
your love,

I would have cradle it
in my hands
warm with care;

wrapped it
in my arms
to protect you
from hurt
from whatever
source
I could have;

whispered to it
with my inner and outer voice
dancing
with
yours;

responded to it
with my heart, body, mind and soul
melting into yours,
in the fire of our passion;

I would have listened to your every word
and wordless plea
and bathed you
with the balmy waters
of my love
and wiped away your tears
with my hair;

and if you ever
had wanted to leave,
I would have opened the window
and let you fly,
away, away, away . . .
and I would have
asked God
to baptise you
with my tears.

Well . . .
that was before you
mocked God
as you did
when I thought
you were asking genuine questions

so
if you concede
that you think
you have a better understanding
of the bigger picture than God,
how could I possibly argue
with somebody
who knows/”knows”
more
than
God
Himself,

and if you don’t concede that,
we would be talking
at cross purposes
so there would be
no point
anyway,

and so “off you go”
she says with a giggle
as she pushes you
right
off
the edge
of her radar screen . . .

kerplops!

“Bye bye”
she laughs
as she turns
her thoughts
to things that matter.

Sometimes when two ships pass in the night it is to prevent a shipwreck on the high seas. Sounds like you are in control of your ship, Diana.

Ida, what a beautiful way of putting it!  You truly have poetry in your heart and soul.

Being in control of one's ship isn't always as easy as it sounds.  I seem to keep bumping my bow.  I sometimes think that I will never learn.  By now, I ought to know to avoid all ships headed straight for my bow, stern, port or starboard, and I keep saying “never again”, but perhaps I need to look up the meaning of “never” in the dictionary . . . yes, I think that is a good plan, lol!

You create a package of verse that when opens blossoms forth the poetic flower.
