Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Michael’s ink
like the tattoo
is painful
as it stings
it's way under
my skin
His misery
a flash
of my own
His ink speaks
on loser sleeves
of tribal tears
and Gaelic guilt
Doomed designs
in nightshade shame
I wear that pain
I know what fate
awaits beyond
his titles
I avoid them
My emotions wrought
from his
I would not read him at all
if not for the beauty and
his mastery of
rhyme, rhythm and tale
Upon his talent I do impale

Yeah, Michael is the King. Me. I write too many dark poems. Love poems for me. One thing about Michael, you'd never get him to write love poems. Well, maybe you could.

His are love poems...devastatingly guilt ridden hopelessly lost love poems. You on the otherhand write deleriously happy love poems. You are like apples and oranges. I did not, would not, compare him to you or anyone else... or vice versa. Vive la difference!

I am humbled that my writing inspired this, Lori, especially knowing how hard it is for you to read it at times.  You give some great depictions here... the tattoo ink creeping under the permanently altered skin I really liked.

All that being said, I saw your reply to Jer on my behalf.  You are absolutely right.  They are love poems mostly.  I wasn't sure anyone out there could see that.  I'm glad you do.

Michael, I have often said when people say they can relate to a painful piece of mine, I don't know if I should say thank you or I'm sorry.
I was torturing myself once again and I had the distinct gut wrench I often get from your work. And that reminded me of why it is hard to read some women poets I relate to
sometimes...and that is how I came to write your poem.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows you are writitng love poems.
