it could have been substantial
those lost decades
something you could write about voiceless
the women tarts
spicy and damaged
you used each other numerously
Desperado
what makes you breakable
does your history bewilder the wild child
preferring to leave them all at dawn whispering
why
you've heard tell
to know Eve is to know all
why did you run from the descendants of Eve
wild child
with your speeding life
fleeting youth
you were a premature old one
a bitter knowingness
coldly blond
ghostly pale face
you brought with you dark clouds
ripped savagely by lightning of another's darkness
a questioning stalemate
you had to flee
shut the hell up – just shut up
huh
don't go there . . . don't go back there
sure, no harm meant
just trying to shape your disorder
you burnt with anger at life
chewing it up and spitting it out so callously
and now you are here
will I see you at the last
have you a neck by which to throttle you
have you a heart
damn you eternally have you a soul
I am about to take a new lover
she can give me what you cannot

death is ne'er a lover
oh, yes she is[/i]

Desparado, why don't you let somebody love you?.... as Linda Rhonstat used to sing.

Isn't it about time for another one of your love poems Jerry? Those are my favorites.
Good morning my friend.

Lori, just reminiscing. I couldn't be more in love if I tried. The one I'm in love with loves me in return. So, in answer to your comment I DO let someone love me.

"You were a premature old one... a bitter knowingness"

Certainly can relate to that, as with much of this.  Not sure if death can or will grant us that elusive peace so sought after, but I certainly do not fear it as most mortals.  Wait on it patiently, yeah, it's more like that.

Jerry...Really enjoyed this. The title pulled me in, for private reasons I won't elaborate on. Thanks for sharing...Paul

Thanks, Michael, I thank you for your kind and inspiring words. That part about waiting on it struck home, of course.
