He stumbled aboard the subway,
Something was strange about his look;
The woman with me gripped my arm
Her face was frightened; she was shook.

Then the derelict sized me up,
I saw me looking back at me;
His eyes were mine; his face was mine,
He was me but how could this be?

His body was ravaged and old,
Greedy for life that passed him by;
He was an outcast in the world,
He dropped his eyes looked like he'd cry.

The woman stared at the old man,
Then turned and looked me in the face;
She mentally transferred her thoughts,
You are that old man through times space?

That is the kind of thought that'll put a chill down your spine and a cold knot in your gut. Glad it isn't so my friend.

Me too, Lori, I'm glad it didn't happen, but it very well could have if I'd taken a different course in life. Thank you for being here so early in the morning.

this took me back to my Brooklyn days and riding the subways. looking in the windows always provided me with a distorted view of myself and was a constant reminder of living my life to its fullest really good write
