Listening to every heart

Racing Since

I raced through the last few days,
on a mission, I guess,
to something else,
maybe even to forget…

We woke up on the 3rd and the 4th,
I gave my husband
his meds, on the 4th
we had lunch with friends,
and I did something I don’t often
do…I pampered myself.

Strange. On 9/2, I remembered my
father’s passing, but on 9/3,
I just raced through the day.
On the fourth, I think I was still
in some denial
because it still hurts so much.

I know that on the 2nd of September,
I thought of her.
My friend, my poet, my mentor…
but I know…
on the 2nd of September
on the day I lost my father,
I thought of her…
and remembered her kindness for not
passing on that exact day, for she knew of it…

Louise, I am so sorry, my dear friend…
but I still miss you so much!
And my words haven’t been the same,
since.

Seems like the grief of losing a one-of-a-kind friend is endless. I know Louise was that kind of friend to you.  And to say she was your friend is to only begin to scratch the surface of what she meant to your heart.
It has been 16 years this October since I lost my Rose and I still weep for her. And it is better to have loved them than to never have known them at all.  Hugs

Lori

2ndhanddreampoet...thank you.

Lori...you know only too well what it means to lose a part of you that was gained not by blood, but by wine and cheese, fresh bread, laughter & tears. Thank you so much for pausing by....
