                Only Love

Streaming clouds in a magnificent
cobalt sky fade into salmon and
crimson tall-castle fantasies
with the setting sun amid profound
and distant whispers of truth and
  eternity
in a lucent-violet twilight afterglow
of ancestral spirit-songs rising
to mingle with a soft Summer
evening breeze through these
‘endless’ hills and forests that
even time forgot,
until shadows and moonbeams
dare to dance with our brightest
hopes, dreams, and memories
among these ancient oaks so sublimely
dressed in gentle veiled-moon splendor,
when there comes a time of pure reflection
on what might be the finest final thoughts
and words ever spoken …
“I shall remember only Love!”

Love means many things to different people. Taking a look at our planet these days and you have a difficult time finding love. You find angry politicians, divorce court calender overworked, among other things. I do understand your meaning here, Bruce, it is just that it is hard to rise above the hate which is afflicting us these days. Now, after saying that I can proudly tell you that I have found true love and contentment in my old age. Gotta love it. And I do.

REALLY glad to hear you've found that "true love and contentment!"  ...

especially difficult for us "Nam generation" folk in particular, methinks?!

What beautiful imagery, Bruce. Perfect setting for love.

thanks Ida!  ... I think the double-post-modern 'Western World' could
perhaps use a lil' dose of old-time 'Romanticism' once and awhile.

Thanks Yann, for your most kind comments about my ever-so-humble lil' "poetic scribbles!"
